The "Spiritual" Aspect of Life ...

A JOURNEY AND A LOVE STORY SPANNING 6,000 YEARS

Part One

Bobby G. Richardson

Regardless of what a person’s expression of spiritually may ... or may not ... be, and while I certainly can’t speak for everyone, it is my belief that cognizant and mentally unimpaired people have an inerrant attribute of recognizing the existence of a "natural realm" AND a "spiritual realm". Many refer to it as a "sixth sense". And, everyone seeks to connect with this cognizance through many different means ... everything from astrology, to yoga, to transcendental meditation, to mythical gods and idolatry, to the many different religions of the world, including the many different variations of the Christian faith. But, the bottom line is, everyone has a cognizant recognition of the existence of something beyond the five senses of our human ability to see, hear, smell, taste and touch. In addition, at some point, we all have a desire to connect with it.

While it has been attacked, and many attempts made to discredit it, the Holy Bible is the world’s best seller. It has stood the test of time. And, it has held up to the scrutiny of skeptics and critics from the stand points of history, science and archeology. Therefore, I base my spirituality upon the Holy Bible ... specifically the King James Version in the English language. **IF** a person opposes the Apostles One God Monotheistic Doctrine of the Holy Bible, or wants to base their spirituality upon the Old Farmer’s Almanac, or one of the Eastern Religions, it’s their eternal destination at stake ... not mine. However, I make it my business to share the Apostles One God Monotheistic Doctrine with everyone I can ... especially **IF** they will listen AND search it out in the Scriptures to see whether or not I’m telling it like it really is. Furthermore, my confidence level is such that I will put the Holy Bible and the Apostles One God Monotheistic Doctrine up against anything else known to man ... bar none. That said, this study will be from the Holy Bible. And, while some are "conditional" it is important to understand that God ... our Creator ... has set spiritual laws in place, which are much like that of the laws of nature, or the law of gravity, that always work ... and works for anyone who applies them properly ... regardless of their belief system. Example: People really do reap what they sow -naturally AND spiritually speaking. I hope a greater appreciation of the love story, and the journey that has spanned 6,000 years, is sparked among us as we look at the Spiritual Aspect of Life -the Holy Bible.

Following a "Good" Creation, God placed man in a beautiful garden (the Garden of Eden), gave him a help meet (Eve), and gave them access to everything they had need of ... but warned them of the consequence of disobedience to His Word. (Genesis 2:15-22). They had fellowship with God, and enjoyed the bounties of the garden until the evil one deceived the woman and she and Adam sinned. At that point, their access to the garden and their fellowship with God was severed. Man was cursed. The woman was cursed. The ground was cursed. And, the serpent was cursed. But, God gave the very first hint of a coming Messiah, who would be of the seed of the woman, to bridge the gulf of sin which separated man from God. (Genesis 3:1-24).

In an obvious attempt to appease God, and re-establish that lost relationship with Him, man began to make offerings to God. And, as a result of anger, envy and jealousy regarding personal offerings, the first murder was committed when Cain slew Abel ... after which Cain was cursed, and went from the presence of the Lord as a branded man. And, men began to "call upon the name of the Lord". (Genesis 4:1-26)

Over the course of the next 1,500 years or so sin and the wickedness of man became so great upon the face of the Earth that God repented that He had even made man. However, one man .. Noah .. found grace in the eyes of the Lord. As a result, God gave Noah very specific instructions how he was able to save his life, his wife’s life and the lives of their three sons and their wives ... only 8 people out of Earth’s entire population.

Reckon what would have happened if Noah had failed to follow the precise instructions which God gave him? Why is it, then, that so many people today act as though ... or have the attitude that ... they can do whatever they think is right in their own eyes, and they will be alright, and accepted in the sight of God?

As a few side notes: God made a covenant with Noah. (Genesis 8:20-22; 9:8-17). But, the Days of Noah, leading up to the flood, and the wickedness in the Earth, have been compared to the period of time that, I believe, you and I are living in today ... right now. (Matthew 24:3-44; 2 Peter 3:3-7; 2 Timothy 3:1-8 and Jude Verses 3-19). Last, but not least, this world is going to be destroyed by fire. (2 Peter 3:6-12).

Following the receding of the flood’s waters, and immediately upon leaving the Ark, Noah built an altar and offered burnt offerings. This must have pleased God because He smelled a sweet savour. (Genesis 8:15-21). Later on, one of Noah’s three sons (Ham) displeased God when he dishonored Noah, while the other two (Shem and Japheth) were blessed for having respect for him. (Genesis 9:17-27).

At that time, the whole world was still of just one language. But, men began doing things their way, and decided to make for themselves a name, and build a city and a tower to reach unto Heaven. This resulted in another Judgment of God being passed upon man. Their work (the tower of Babel) was halted because God confounded their language so that they could no longer understand each other. And, as a result, they were scattered abroad upon the face of all the earth. (Genesis 11:1-9)

God called Abram from his home, Ur of the Chaldees, unto a land that He would show him. And, God made him a promise that He would make of him a great nation; make his name great; bless them that blessed him and curse them that cursed him; and that in him all of the families of the earth would be blessed. (Genesis 11:27-32 and Genesis 12:1-4). And, this very interesting story continues to unfold, all the way up to this day. By the way, I have never tried to do what I am about to attempt, here, for the first time. And, for the sake of having a point of reference, I will use AC to stand for the years AFTER CREATION ...

(Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed and Abraham offered up Isaac during this time.)

Sarah was 127 years old when she died. Genesis 23:1

Abraham was 175 years old when he died. Genesis 25:7

Isaac was 40 when he married Rebekah. Genesis 25:20

Isaac was 60 years old when Esau and Jacob were born. Genesis 25:26

2138 AC Jacob is born

Isaac was 180 years old when he died. Genesis 35:28

God changed Jacob’s name to Israel. Genesis 32:28

(Jacob’s [Israel’s] sons became known as the "TRIBES" OF ISRAEL)

Israel’s younger son, Joseph, was 17 when he had the dream that provoked his older brothers. Genesis 37:2

As a result, he was sold into bondage by his older brothers, and carried down to Egypt. During this time he gained favor, then was falsely accused and thrown into prison. And, he was 30 years old when he interpreted Pharoah’s dream about 7 years of plenty followed by 7 years of famine - 2nd to Pharoah Genesis 41:46

During the 7 years of plenty, Joseph had two sons born in Egypt, Manasseh and Ephraim. Genesis 41:50-52

During the famine, Israel and his family of 70 went down to Egypt to live. Genesis 46:27

Israel blessed his sons before he died at age 147, and set Ephraim before Manasseh. Genesis 47:28 & 48:20

(Moses spent the first 40 years of his life in Egypt, the second 40 years on the back side of the desert as God prepared him for an important mission, and the last 40 years of his life, leading the Children of Israel.)

Moses was 80 years old and Aaron was 83 years old when they went in and spoke to Pharoah. Exodus 7:7

The Children of Israel were in the Land of Egypt 430 years before the Exodus. Exodus 12:40 & 51

2598 AC Israel delivered from Egyptian bondage

The Exodus from Egypt took place in the first month of the year for the Children of Israel. Exodus 12:2 And, they wandered in the wilderness 40 years before entering the Promised Land (Canaan) Numbers 14:33; 32:13; Deuteronomy 2:7; 8:2; 29:5; Joshua 5:6; Nehemiah 9:21; Amos 2:10; 5:25; Acts 7:30..36..42; 13:18; Hebrews 3:17. They left Egypt and crossed over Jordan, 40 years later, both, in the First Month. Joshua 4:19. During their 40 years of wandering in the wilderness, many things took place including God giving the Mosaic or Levitical Law on Mount Sinai ... with a promise that the law written on stone would one day be written upon the fleshy tables of our heart. Deuteronomy 6:6; Jeremiah 31:33; 2 Corinthians 3:3 ... a very significant hint regarding the future indwelling Spirit of God ... The Holy Ghost. The Law was given the Second year after the Children of Israel left Egypt. Numbers 9:1. Also, the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us (or introduce us) to Christ ... the Promised Messiah. Galatians 3:24. At any rate, God gave Moses some very specific instructions as to how the Tabernacle was to be constructed AND how all of the ceremonies of the Levitical Priesthood were to be performed. The presence of the Lord dwelled among His people in the Most Holy Place, above the Mercy Seat on the Ark of the Covenant, which contained the Law on the tables of stone, some of the manna that God fed the Children of Israel with, and Aaron’s rod that budded. Hebrews 9:4. There are many things to be learned regarding the construction of the tabernacle and the Levitical Law. And, I hope to hit some of the high points in our next study. At any rate, we will stop here ... the year 2600 AC ... the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai, and pick back up with some interesting things regarding the Tabernacle and the Law next time. Thanks ... and God bless!
